research

interview findings
- tablets fall out of non-sealable packaging
- tablets are mistaken for candy by kids
- powders can be messy
- caps build up residue
We sent out a survey and conducted two interviews to learn more about our consumers. Based on the data collected we came up with a list containing features we felt were most important to include in our design.
packaging criteria
- doesn’t interfere with the chemical properties of toothpaste
- biodegradable/compostable or recyclable
- easy to dispense the correct amount
- doesn’t require additional packaging
- compact/lightweight
- easy to transport
- water-resistant

prototypes

Our first prototype helped show the scale for the package and for the pods. We explored potential lid options, but stop because it would require more energy to produce and it allowed for a possible water entrance.

For our second prototype, we made changes in dimensions and created a travel size option as well. We decided on a friction lid because of its energy cost-effectiveness and its simplicity.
branding
As a group, we created a brand identity for our product that aligns with Grove Collaborative's design language. These branding elements were created by our graphic designer with consideration from the rest of the team.
